So I flashed my SGS with Darky's Dark Core v2.3 cause it was faster than the stock firmware but apparently the front facing camera has a bug with it. So you might be able to use video calling with Skype but the camera will be showing some weird image.
Anyways, here is the fix, just go to this forum link and look for the latest version ( v2.6) and download it.
At the bottom of all the download links, there would be a video teaching you how to flash your phone using SGS Kernel Flasher. Download the kernel flasher from android Market.
After following all the directions from the video, your phone should be updated to Dark Core v2.6 with the camera fixed. Its is also faster as the amount of ram available was tweaked.
Thank you Darky for the awesome Dark Core.
That's all.

Samsung GalaxyS - Forgetting to disable lagfix before flashing.
Okay, title says it all. I did exactly that and I payed the price of solving the hell out of that problem...
So much for updating to Android 2.3 without a problem..
Anyways for those who has done this. Don't worry, it can be saved. If you dare try it for yourself.
Symptoms -
So much for updating to Android 2.3 without a problem..
Anyways for those who has done this. Don't worry, it can be saved. If you dare try it for yourself.
Symptoms -
- Boots to the Samsung Phone model screen then it would hang and restarts again
- Boots to the shining Samsung logo then hanging and repeats itself.
Don't panic just yet.
All you need to do is download Odin v1.8 + .pit file + a PDA file + Phone file and CSC file.
There are forums on the net which would let you download all these with the instructions.
Just choose the android version you want. Make sure you have the .pit file. *important*
Open Odin and CHECK Re-partition.
Usually you don't check it but under such a case, you MUST check it.
Then connect your phone, select all the files at the correct locations and click Start.
Let it run and don't touch anything. Within 10 minutes, your phone should have rebooted itself.
*note* for the first boot, it would take much longer at the Samsung logo screen. So be patient.
That should be all.
That was what I did and it worked.
Remember to read through a few forums before doing it.
*may not for you, so do at your own risk*

Samsung GalaxyS Sudden volume drop solution
Okay I have experienced this problem a few times already.
I think the last time it happened was because I pulled out my earphones while a call was going on. I think its a bug with the phone.
Anyways, the problem is the volume which is at full would drop to a lower level.
Then it would just stay there. This would affect your ringer and media volumes.
If you have experienced this problem before, the solution which i found was fairly simple.
*Solution* - Just ask someone to call your phone. It will fix the problem. It did for mine everytime I experienced it.
That's all.

Why Root your Samsung Galaxy S
I always searched why I should have rooted my phone a while back and well let me tell you why you should do it.
I am a simple user, I don't go through all the inside files and haven't learn to flash my phone yet. So, it is sorta simple to do.
I am a simple user, I don't go through all the inside files and haven't learn to flash my phone yet. So, it is sorta simple to do.
The moment you root your phone, Superuser should have been installed (grants you admin perks). The first app to install is One Click Lag Fix. This app would fix all the little lagging problems with the phone. It would also make certain apps work faster. I tried it and yes i would definitely say it made everything faster. Almost like iPhone smooth.
Second app I found to be useful would be Hot Reboot or any other app that would just restart the software and not the whole phone. Makes restarting your phone much much quicker.
For those more advanced user, there are apps to dig into you phone for full control and to squeeze more out of your battery but those needs to be further researched.
*Updated*
After some opinions from the more experienced who commented, I shall add in what they said since it is to lets you know the reasons to rooting your phone.
According to them, with the root, you can back up your phone, flash your phone ( something like reformating it), overclocking the processor and also to delete certain admin files.
Pretty sure there are loads of other perks, its just that I haven't learned it yet. Sorry....

Samsung GalaxyS/ Vibrant MMS Problem Solution
Okay so apparently the GalaxyS had problems with the MMS function. Either it would not go out or it would not be downloaded.
So after fooling around with my phone a bit I am guessing I found a solution.
My phone is running on Android 2.2 Froyo.
1. Download MMS phone settings from your network provider.
2. Install the settings.
3. Go to your phone Settings> Wireless and Network> Mobile Networks.
4. Check "Use packet data"
5. Go into Access Point Names. Select your provider setting.
6. Check APN Type and make sure the mms setting is selected. (Either just MMS or Data roaming or both)
That fixed my phone for me. So go give it a try and see.
*If it doesn't work then sorry I don't think I have your solution then*
Tell me if it works for you.

How to upgrade Android 2.1 to 2.2 FROYO on Samsung GalaxyS
I have just upgraded my Samsung GLS from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2.
Before upgrading it I was searching around for how to update the firmware and well there were a few ways.
One of it was using another program to place it in like how you would normally jailbreak an iPhone. "Press this and this till this screen appears"
But I went with the way which is a lil bit more normal.
Update the firmware through Samsung Kies. Some of the instructions out there state that you would need the newer version and to download it.
You can actually just update it from within Kies.
Open Kies > Click Kies(top left corner) > Update. Then wait for the program to update itself.
After that just plug your phone into the computer with the USB cable and select Kies on your phone.
When it connects, a pop up in Kies will appear prompting that you can update your firmware.
Click it and follow instructions.
Tadaaa
If you need more specific instructions, here is the website I referred to for my phone.

My Samsung GalaxyS Review
Okay. For anyone interested in the GS, I'm pretty sure you already know, its either this or the iPhone 4. For malaysians that is. I know there are like Droids and Evos overseas but since we don't have that option here...like that la..sad case
Anyways, I recently got the GS and before I got it, I was forced to choose between the 2 and after a lot of research and reviews and people's opinions I got the GS instead.
Both phones are very evenly matched. In some areas, one would have the upper hand but in the end everything evens out. Enough said, here is what I really think should be mentioned about the GS.
- The screen is definitely the brighter one and all but when under direct sunlight, with the brightness at full blast, it is still a little difficult to see.
- The battery life under normal usage would last about 1 and a half days but if you have a data plan running, it would be less than a day. Bring that charger around.
- The option of putting the speakers behind is stupid. If you have the phone on its back, sound levels drop by 50%. When you place it screen down first, then it is freaking loud.
- The phone would lag under multi tasking but of course which phone wouldn't. My sis has the iP4 and it lags as well. So that's even as well. There is a fix for it tho which requires it to be Rooted.
- The front facing camera is VGA. Which is 1.3mp? For placing so much muscle in this phone, the FF camera would be one of the saddest part of the phone.
- I thought that the lack of apps would not affect me but after using it for a while, it hit me that the only things that are missing are mostly games. XD
- Made of plastic but luckily high grade plastic which is quick scratch proof, luckily.
Of course with all the bad, there must be perks to this phone.
- You get this huge ass screen to yourself, and damn it feels good. HD games and vids. Who wouldn't love it? Plus the Super Amoled screen is more power efficient.
- You can just drag and drop files without a care in the world or go through all the hells of iTunes. Mount the phone and viola.
- No need for jailbreaking and unlocking. It is great on stock but if you want a really smooth phone best to Root it.
- Free apps, most of it at least. Just that they come with ads. But they can be totally ignored.
- The bluetooth connects to everything. I know there are apps for the iPhone for the bluetooth, but for the GS, it is a native feature. Just that remember to set the Appear to devices in the settings.
- The GS has a back button and menu button. I like it.
- It has a notification bar from the top with easy access to wifi, bluetooth, GPS, Silent Mode and Auto Rotation. It also allows you to change screen brightness as well. Kinda nifty actually. Quick access.
- It is notably lighter than the iPhone. Very obvious weight difference.
- General MicroUSB adapter. Since it is more popular these days in the newer phones, definitely a smart move.
I would have to say, this is a great phone to have for a person who doesn't want the hassles from Apple. If you don't mind it then well pick whichever. Many other options as well with the same 1ghz processor.
My final verdict - If you ignore everything I wrote above, both phones could be called twins. One the bigger one, one the clearer skin complextion one. Really depends on which you like better. If you don't like to fiddle around, you know the Iphone is easier but if you like to fiddle around, have more control of your phone, more compatibility, pick the SGS.

PapaGo! X5 for Android Phones.
Okay so recently, I've got a new phone and its android.
Will write a review for it later.
Anyways I've apparently found a free GPS app for Malaysia and Singapore roads.
The app installs well and all but i'm still having trouble getting the maps.
It's downloading as I type. I downloaded some other map which didin really work with the app. Sadly.
Anyways, any Android people out there who wants to try it, here's the download link.
To get the app, just go to the app Market and search for papago.
Papago SEA maps
Will update this post on whether i succeed or not.
****UPDATE!*****
I managed to get it working!! Not under trial either.
I am a happy boy!
Okay, its a not bad app for you to play around with as they have provided the trial version but if you want the full map, then a lot of digging on the net has to be done.
