The Third Parent

Growing up is always tough, doesn’t matter of what gender, race or social class you are. I know I had a pretty rough time. But here is the thing, our parents didn’t have the privilege of the internet. We do fortunately. Coming from an Asian family, kind of open country and just the curiosity of growing up, I have discovered that whatever my parents did not talk to me about, whatever school did not teach me about, I would eventually learn from either friends or the internet. I know where some of you are going with this. I won’t deny not looking it up. Anyways, at the end of the day I would have learned what I wanted to. The friend part wasn't a very good idea either. Just imagine all bullshit your friends would tell you. So I turned towards the internet and that was how I met my third parent. From basic remedies to social skills, basic facts to reference page guides. it seemed that this parent knew it all. Of course some of the information was pretty off, but heck look at how much faith people put into Wikipedia. I recently heard from a talk show of how some celebrity took to the internet on how to care for her newly born child. Well I guess, I have more siblings than I expected from this one parent. Now I wouldn't say this is the best parent, since as we all know, clicking the wrong thing would just cause us to have viruses.

5 hour energy crash

Hello readers!

Okay okay I know, I haven't been keeping to my word of keeping this blog updated. But I sorta have my reasons. Plattsburgh ain't a very big place and well, unless I start writing about my lunch or the daily dramas, then I don't really have much to talk about anymore. The biggest event would be from my uni and the biggest drinking thing would prolly be a pub downtown. So yea...

So in the States, energy drinks is a pretty big thing. Besides RB, there is a whole list of other brands which claims the exact same thing - more energy. But one of the more popular ones is 5 Hour energy. Its a tiny little bottle which apparently would give you hours of energy without the "crash" people usually get. This bugs me because I know people who drinks it and they crash. Of course I know that everyone is different but to claim drinking it does not make you feel like crap after using it should be applied to everyone.

So here is just a quick shout out to all the readers who drink it. Take it in moderation if you do. There was a death case from drinking too much of it. Below are some links to the issue mentioned above.

I guess that was all I would have liked to ramble with.
Next post soon. Hopefully, if I get my homework down.

Changing with the Fun Theory.

Hey people,
sorry for not updating for a bit but life is hectic as usual.
Anyways recently I saw some videos about the Fun Theory. Its a project by Volkwagen to change people's attitude towards basic actions like throwing trash into the trash can and recycling.

I know the videos maybe old but still its definitely a start to give ideas to the world about creative ways to change our habits.

Enjoy!

Imagine if this was in your country, wouldn't it be much cleaner or greener or healthier?

Drifting on water. Hydroplaning

When I was younger I always loved the thought of driving over puddles of water. I mean EVERY puddle of water. Just to make that huge splash flying in every directions.
Everything changed after I got my license. I was driving down the highway and it was raining and I went over a puddle. It was exactly like the car had a mind of its own. The speed meter and RPM meter just rose and the car shuddered. Luckily it was a straight and just a small puddle and before I knew it the tires caught the road again, the car shook, and I was back on my way.
What I experienced was hydroplaning and not many people seem to know so here is a short description of what it is

  • Hydroplaning or aquaplaning happens when the tires of a vehicle lose traction on a wet roadway, causing the car to drift like a sled until the wheels gain traction again. As one might imagine, hydroplaning is extremely dangerous, since the vehicle is out of the driver's control while it slides. During rainy or slushy weather, drivers need to be aware of the risk of hydroplaning, and it is important to drive carefully in these conditions to avoid this dangerous driving situation. There are also some vehicle maintenance tips which can reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
I know this sounds like a mother nagging but please drive slow and safe. Cause I tried it and God it scared the hell out of me.

Currently thinking of what to write for my Bangkok trip.
Have fun all.

Another 8765 hours

Well again Happy New Year everyone!

Another year passes and more reminiscing have been done.
So much has passed again and so much experiences I have learnt.
More knowledge gained, although not all good.
Hopefully with 2010 over, most of my problems would have followed it.
Still with having so much experiences, some have left deeper scars than others.
Hoping to move on and forget the scars.
New resolutions, new hopes, new dreams.

I would have a toast with you readers but since I can't do that, here is a virtual one.
*toast* To a great year ahead with much success!
Happy New Year

Following it.

I am sure many people would have been through it in life.
Many of us would give the best advices to friends and family. Save countless relationships and maybe end countless arguments.
But we never seem to be able to follow our own advice well enough to fix our problems.
Well its a personal opinion at least. I can never really follow what I tell others.

It maybe a bad example but think about it.

*Updates for Miss Tourism 2010 and 7aste New York is on its way. Just need to edit the pics.

KLIMS Children Road Safety Edu and activities.

If you haven't visited the KL Motorshow yet, just be aware that it is till 12th December at PWTC,
but just be informed, I think the Bumblebee and the Batman car thingy is just over-rated.

Okay anyways, if you are not very sure on how to cross the roads properly or you have younger children with you when you are visiting the Motorshow, be aware that there is Road Safety booth to teach children the ways of crossing the roads and all that. (booth 1B10, located at Hall 1).

Fun and educational, I do hope so.

Please be careful of your kids as there are ALOT of people there. Don't want your kids to go missing.

Be careful of your belongings. A friendly community service reminder. XD

Okay this happened around me and I didn't even noticed it.

I was at Mc.donalds eating with a friend and it was around 4 something so it was pretty empty and slow,
2 guys walked in, flopped their bags on the table and went to order.
About 5 minutes later, one of the guy goes "excuse me, have you seen my bag".
Apparently he lost his bag with his laptop in it but on the same table, there is another bag there.

The person who stole the bag, switched it and left an empty bag there, then he walked away.

So please please please be careful of your belongings.
Have someone to watch over your belongings and help the person order as well.
At least there is someone at the table.

No.1 Rule You Should Know About Pencil Leads.

Okay here is the thing.

Pencil leads do not contain ANY lead(plumbum)

Yes it is very true folks.
I have heard people telling me since primary school about how pencil leads would kill you and stuff.
Even adults will tell it to children but here is the thing,

  • Pencil leads are made out of carbon in the form of graphite

Here are some links to back me up in case you are skeptical.

Hope that clears some of the dangerous myths about the pencil lead.

Different GPS Voices

I always wanted a GPS with a sexy voice.
So instead of the normal boring voice,
it would have this sexy voice telling you where to go.
I think that would be the only way I wouldn't shout at it.
It gets annoying after a while when they repeat too many times....

Anyway, look what I found!
Star Wars character voices. I want the Yoda one!

Someone get me one please!

Magical drive home

Ok a short post then...
things like these happens when I don't have my camera with me

Driving home from college.
It was raining.
The evening sun at full blast.
There was lightning.
There was 4 rainbows together.
The radio was playing Taylor Swift - Today is a fairytale.

With such a setting, hell yes.
The irony of the moment.

Still no camera..

 Played Eskimo in Malaysia.
